1Password is one of the best password managers on the market in 2023: it protects your data with top-notch security features, provides tons of handy extras, has a very intuitive control panel, and offers budget-friendly pricing. I tested 1Password on my Windows 10 computer, MacBook Air, and Android and iOS phones, and I was impressed with the ease of creating multiple vaults, setting up two-factor authentication (2FA), auto-saving and auto-filling passwords, and finding and using all of 1Password’s basic and advanced features.
1Password has a lot of great features, but I have a few favorites:
- Customizable Vault – allows you to create multiple vaults (for example, you can separate personal, financial, travel, work, and family passwords and data);
- Password monitoring – alerts you to weak, vulnerable, repeated and cracked passwords;
- Travel Mode – allows you to hide important passwords when traveling out of the country (1Password is the only password manager with this feature).
I really like 1Password, but it could be even better in some areas. For example, you can’t add or change your password in 1Password’s browser extension (you’ll be redirected to the web version of 1Password instead), and there’s no bookmark vault in the browser extension. In addition, you are not asked to add special characters and numbers to the master password, potentially allowing users to create weak passwords. Finally – I would like to see more secure password import options in 1Password’s mobile apps: you have to import passwords via a CSV file, which is not as secure as importing passwords directly from the browser (as is done in Dashlane).
